Uniform
At John Kyrle High School, our uniform is an important part of our identity and school ethos. Wearing the correct uniform helps to create a strong sense of belonging and community, giving students pride in their school and fostering a shared identity both within school and beyond.
Our uniform reflects our values of being Ready, Respectful and Resilient. By wearing our uniform correctly, students demonstrate respect for themselves, for one another and for the learning environment. We expect all pupils to maintain a high standard of dress and presentation, and we appreciate the ongoing support of parents and carers in upholding these expectations.
We are committed to ensuring that our uniform remains affordable. In line with statutory guidance, our uniform requirements are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain reasonable and accessible. Appearance and Uniform Expectations
To maintain a smart and consistent appearance, students are expected to follow the guidance below:
- If make-up is worn, it should be natural and discreet.
- Acrylic or false nails, coloured nail polish, coloured lipstick and ink drawings on the skin are not permitted.
- Hair should be a natural colour and worn in a style appropriate for school.
- Extreme hairstyles are not permitted, including shaved patterns, extreme-coloured highlights or coloured hair extensions.
- Clothing, footwear and accessories displaying sports brands, sports logos, team logos or sports club branding are not permitted.
- Uniform should be worn correctly and with pride at all times.
Labelling Uniform
We strongly recommend that all items of uniform are clearly labelled with the pupil's name. This helps us to identify and return lost items as quickly as possible.
PE kit
Our revised PE uniform was introduced in September 2024.
The change applies fully to current Year 7 and Year 8 students. Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 may continue to wear the previous PE kit until replacement items are required.
Students need one of the following lower-body options:
- Shorts
- Cycling shorts
- Leggings
Students are not expected to purchase all three items but may choose different options throughout the year.
